Dear friend,
I was driving home the other afternoon when I hit one of those long red lights. You know the kind—the ones that feel like they were designed to test your patience. I sat there tapping the steering wheel, watching the minutes slip by, feeling that familiar itch to get moving again. But then something caught my eye. Off to the right, a little boy was standing in his front yard, tossing a baseball straight up in the air and catching it with both hands and sometimes not catching the ball. He wasn’t in a hurry. He wasn’t frustrated. He wasn’t checking a clock. He was just… there. Fully in the moment, doing one small thing with his whole heart. And it made me wonder how often I rush through life without noticing the simple things happening right beside me. Sometimes God slows us down not to frustrate us, but to help us see what we would’ve missed at full speed. Scripture reminds us: “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” — Psalm 90:12 Wisdom doesn’t always come from big moments. Sometimes it comes from a red light and a kid with a baseball. This Week’s Small Step When you’re forced to wait—at a light, in a line, or on hold—take one slow breath and look around. Ask quietly: “Lord, what are You showing me right here?” A Thought to Carry Sometimes the pause is the blessing. An Invitation (If You’d Like) Hit reply and tell me: Where did God slow you down this week, and what did you notice?
Until next time,
